Prayer Is Important

As a Christian child, it is very important you pray. The Word of God says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” Mark 11: 24. In your home, you would have seen your parents praying on many occasions; they were not wasting their time. This is because God answers prayers. Therefore, as a child, also cultivate the culture of always praying to God concerning any issue. You might say, ‘I do not know how to pray.’ That is not a challenge at all. Simply ask God to teach you how to pray. Interestingly, the very act of asking God to teach you how to pray is prayer in itself.

There is no issue you cannot pray to God about. Be it on your health, education, career choice, parents, siblings, pet, or anything. You can pray to God about it and you can be sure of a positive answer. “And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him” 1 John 5: 5.

Another thing about prayer that you should know is that it gives you the opportunity to fellowship with God. Prayer is not only about asking for things from God, but an opportunity to worship Him. You can devote special times where you do not ask for anything, but just worship Him. Thank Him for your life and all that He has done for you and your family.

Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered” Proverbs 11: 25. Prayer time is also an opportunity to water others. In other words, it is an opportunity to pray for others who might be in need. Pray for children who are sick in hospitals; for other children in trouble home and war torn countries. As you do this in your prayers, God will also grant you what you did not even ask for. As you learn to always pray, no challenge will ever be too big for you to handle. This is because you will know how to channel everything that bothers you to God in prayers. So start praying to God from this moment. He is waiting to grant you the desires of your heart.
